Over the past seven years, the economic status of the United States has deteriorated significantly due to the economic policies implemented by President Bush and his Congressional allies during the first six years of his administration.
Huge budget deficits and trade deficits, net loss of jobs, rising unemployment, declining median family income, the shrinking dollar, the horrific housing/foreclosure crisis all point to the failures of the current administration and the Congress to fulfill their obligations to the American people. My efforts in the Congress will be directed at reversing this free fall through a variety of means that:
- re-establish a fiscally responsible government,
- reduce both budget and trade deficits
- restructure the tax code so that it is fair, just, and equitable for all Americans, but especially for those hard-working middle-class families weakened by this current economic crisis
- develops programs that create jobs.
